Expected to post these polls before Season Three started, but didn’t expect Season Three to start so soon. Well, better early than never, I suppose. So, here goes… Make sure you vote below on your favorite parts of Season Two. And, if you feel anything was left out, go ahead and mention it and it’ll be considered next time. Since indecisiveness is a completely understandable trait when it comes to your favorite show, the polls are setup to allow you to make multiple choices. On a rather slow night across the board (as it was Labor Day), Lie to Me scored a 1.0/2 rating share, with 3.36 million viewers. Its numbers closely resembled those of its 8 o’clock lead in, House, which scored a 1.0/3 rating/share, with 3.22 million viewers. Also airing with Lie to Me at the 9 o’clock hour was a new episode of Bachelor Pad (ABC – 2.0/5, 5.45 million), and repeats of Two and a Half Men (CBS, 9:00 – 2.1/5, 7.85 million), The Big Bang Theory (CBS, 9:30 – 2.2/6, 7.55 million), America’s Got Talent (NBC – 1.2/3, 4.84 million), and Gossip Girl (CW – 0.3/1, 0.62 million).

In its new summer time slot, Lie to Me was down a bit from its last original ep two weeks ago. It scored a 1.6/5 rating/share, with 4.89 million viewers. This put it in third place for the 9 o’clock hour. Also airing in the same time slot was a new Bachelor Pad (ABC – 2.0/6, 5.49 million), and reruns of Two and a Half Men (CBS, 9:00 – 2.4/7, 8.35 million), The Big Bang Theory (CBS, 9:30 – 2.5/7, 8.01 million), America’s Got Talent (NBC – 1.1/3, 4.51 million), and Gossip Girl (CW – 0.3/1, 0.76 million).

As pointed out by James Hibberd of The Live Feed, though down this week, Lie to Me continues to be the highest rated scripted show of the summer.

Jim Halterman: What inspired the story that we see in the ‘Pied Piper’ episode?
Shawn Ryan: This was an idea that Sharon Lee Watson, who wrote the episode had. It’s based loosely on a real-life case that I think still remains unsolved about somebody who was leaving these creepy messages with people saying ‘I’m gonna get you! I’m gonna get you!’ and then their child was abducted. She did a lot of research on this particular case and we sort of fictionalized it to make it work for our show. She wanted to do essentially a bit of a horror episode. What’s really fun about a show like ‘Lie To Me’ is you can do many different episodes. You can do some comedic episodes, dramatic, family stuff, government conspiracy and she said we had not done a truly scary, creepy episode of the show so she set out to do an episode like that.

Down a little from last week, Lie to Me scored a 1.8/6, with an average of 5.906 million viewers. It gained about .2 million viewers by the second half of the 8 o’clock hour. This put it in second place behind ABC’s The Bachelorette (2.6/9, 7.931 million viewers). Also airing at the 8 o’clock hour were repeats of How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8:00 – 1.6/6, 4.819 million viewers), Rules of Engagement (CBS, 8:30 – 1.8/6, 5.84 million viewers), Last Comic Standing (NBC – 1.2/4, 3.045 million viewers), and 90210 (CW – 0.4/1, .0947 million viewers).

You will be correct… eventually. “Jennifer Beals is back (as Cal’s ex-wife) for a couple more episodes, before I hijack her for my new Fox show,” says exec producer Shawn Ryan.
