As much as I wanted to see Burns go, I was very sad for Gillian :/ Next week’s looks a little bit more playful than the last few, and that makes me excited :)

    LOVED THIS EPISODE.
Tim Roth is brilliant in every single episode, and I especially love the Cal/Emily moments. I’m actually not upset at all about Burns leaving, but I do agree with the person who said that Loker and Torres should have more scenes.

I loved this episode. I am really sad to see Burns go because Gillian needed to have a bit more fun, IMO. And he really seemed like a good guy. However, I agree with everyone else about if it paves the way for Cal and Gillian, so long Dr. Burns. :)

Well done by all. Keston John had a powerful presence in his guest star role, no wonder Shawn Ryan personally sent him a letter to thank him, hope to see him in more stuff. Kelli did an excellent job, I really did feel so sad for Foster at the end. Another great performance by Tim of course, but he always hits the mark. Hayley was also great in the episode, I liked Emily a lot more in this episode than I have in some past ones. Sad not much screen time for Brendan or Monica though. This episode packed a lot of action in it.

  11. Awesome

This one was just ok. Previous week was spectacular. There was not enough Cal awesomeness in this one and just not enough of the science. They’re losing that. New writers, I take it?

And stop asking “who rated poor?” We rate honestly the way we liked it. Some weeks I’m rating awesome and when the episode is a disappointment I rate poor. This time I rated ok. It was only ok. There was no magic in this one compared to last week’s Cal’s antics going to the nut house. Obviously the blogger is fair and wants real opinions. If this was a fan forum then you’d only have “awesome” and “super duper”.

For those of you who think Torres and Loker should have more scenes (and I’m there with you, by the way!), next week they’re supposed to have more scenes. I’m not sure if I can spoil in these comments (although, in all fairness, this IS a spoilers site), but the episode stills contain a picture of them together, going out.

This episode was ok. To be honest, I expected a bit more of it. I think I would’ve liked it better if I’d actually been able to understand everything they were saying (I’m not native English and especially Foster and Cal are hard to understand sometimes)…
But the episode was okay nonetheless, and even though it sucks for Foster I’m glad to see Burns go!

Exposed was good and exposed even more than others maybe aware of. Lightman exposed himself to Gillian about his true feelings. So now let’s pray this isn’t dragged on forever. The cat’s out, so let flow. As for Torres and Loker, a balance of scenes can be done easily by having two (multiple) story lines in each episode. One or both can carry over into the next. I don’t see why not.

  14. Nath V from France,

one more awesome new ep! Really, since the break since the ep 11th the new direction/way, WOW! Each ep is very powerful very more deeply intense, some are more very percuting, some are very more deeply emotional, some very more funny, but all so deeply intense! And this new last one about Gillian is very WOW! (for some reasons on twit’ ;) was not 100% focused on, will have to rewatch it later) but i followed most of it and luved it! The Callian moments, are always WOW (cant wait the next ep ;) )
This ep about Gillian is very very powerful and emotional! KW is a real Talented actress, ok KWFans for you all, what i just said is totaly banality, pleonasm :D but from TRF she is a real very very very Talented Actress! All the cast was awesome, one more time. Special thought for TRoth, each time a so great moment, oh yeah! Thanks…
This new ep is so emotional, got shivers, kinda wet eyes.
congrats+ huge thanks again to everybody in LTM (cast, and what cast :) , crew, staff, prod members, people behind… long life Lie to me.

This is my favorite show currently on TV, and TR is really an excellent actor. I have never been disappointed in anything he’s done. That said, I was not crazy about this episode.

The acting was good all around, no question. The plot was okay, although everything felt really rushed. This pace worked well in the The Shield, since the main trajectory in that show was how fast everyone could dance before getting caught. There’s no underlying need for that pace in LTM.

Lightman being an excellent con man is a recurring theme, and it’s interesting and believable, and must be fun to act, but I think it was done better in other episodes.

Lastly, I am totally against Lightman/Foster as a plot. It would ruin their working relationship and all the tension that engenders. As a character, I don’t believe Foster is dumb enough to go there, since she knows him so well. Lightman would either hurt her,and the audience would dislike him for that, or they’d have to make him much “nicer” and that would totally ruin his character. It’s also pretty obvious and cliched.

I would certainly stop watching at that point. A flawed character is interesting *because* he’s flawed. No need to fix him up!

Have to agree with some here that this ep was…ok. I expected a bit more to be honest and concerning Cal’s “feelings”, I don’t actually know if his admittance, when pushed by Burns, was just an act in order to gain the trust of the kidnappers or true….cos they (Gillian, Burns and Cal) did talk about playing the kidnappers against each other when they were trapped in this room. Don’t get me wrong, I do think Cal has feelings but I doubt that he really ment to be honest about it at that point. I think it was just an act…

Another thing, we see less and less of Loker…which I think is a bit disappointing. Had the feeling that back in S1 the balance between the facetime for those 4 was a bit better. And yes, I once again missed the science! I do understand that the writers wanted to push the character development but honestly…the show seems to use less and less of it and becomes more and more like other action shows (or whatever you would call it). I really hope they find the proper balance between both in S3 cos after all, the science is what made Lie to Me so unique and special back in S1…

I can’t help but feel like Fox’s previews for the upcoming episodes are the source of a lot of disappointment – ‘Exposed’ (to me at least) was made out to be an episode with Cal’s confession re: Foster as the focal point.

    It was not.

Next week’s teaser was highlighted with the kiss, no doubt in order to draw in more viewers. Probably going to have very little to do with that.

Now of course, this is what teasers are meant to do, and Fox cannot be blamed for trying to bring in more viewers. Personally, I think that I’m just going to stop looking at them. :)

The shipper side of me really loved this episode, I have to say that. There were a few lines that I did not get, but today I got to read subtitles and it was like “wow… it was much better than I had thought”. I’m really enjoying this new stories because I feel they are more intense than they used to be last season. Personal stuff always adds something good. Cal being jealous and so open regarding his feelings was a great thing to watch. I mean… it’s obvious he cares A LOT about her, just to say the least.
In the end, I felt really, really sorry for Gillian. I know… we all want (well, most of us) Cal and Gillian to be together. But she seemed so in love with Burns, that it feels just unfair that he’s gone. He was such a great guy after all! I thought we were going to end up hating him (like Alec), but it was far away from that. When Cal asked him to use his imagination and make up a place and he started talking about waking up by her side… I felt in love with him too! That was incredible cute! That “good-bye scene” was really, really sad. Yeah… I wish Burns to be back in a future episode.

@Silvana yeah that scence with Burns saying that was cute. I felt so sorry for Gillian…the look she had when Burns left the hospital room while realising he will be gone for good was just heartbreaking. Incredible acting by Kelli Williams!!

So, I enjoyed this episode much more than Pied Piper. What I liked was the way they kept Burns as Mr. America for the most part…ok, he killed a very bad person, not so great…but at least he wasn’t dissing Gillian in any way shape or form.

The whole parade of lies from the time they pulled the three of them out of the holding room was great…It was another in the series of the “long con” game Cal likes to play…and Burns met Cal all the way, from the false confession from Cal of his wanting Gillian, to the whole knife in the chest moment…the fake out was brilliantly played by Cal and Burns…I think they had Gillian taken out before that, b/c they knew she couldn’t convincingly hide the lie at that point.
I was sad to see Burnsy go, I liked that character a lot. But at least they kept him clean for the most part, and sent him off alive rather than killing him off. I could see some upcoming plot episode where Gillian is used to try to get Burnsy out of hiding or something…not that I would enjoy that.

There was actually a lot of science in this one, and Cal used his knowledge of the science to manipulate the antagonist to eventually do what Cal wanted him to do. Teaching the kid just enough to make him think he could follow it all…..

I LOVED Cal’s reaction to the artsy food place…I was laughing pretty hard in those scenes.

What idiot would leave someone’s safe wide open??? I would think Cal would have had Gillian’s head for that one.

    August 24, 2010 @ 6:11 pm

  21. diva459

OH, @AKASpeedo (are you a swimmer?)…I think the con game rises to the level of those he needs to con…I thought the Burns character really added to the con game in this one. Remember back to the serial rapist, killer from S1? His con-game was at it’s highest with that one, b/c he had to fool even Gillian for that one to come off convincingly. I guess I like that about the show…the writers have done a good job of showing the different levels of con needed to play different types of games…

Well, if they don’t make Cal any nicer, I certainly hope they don’t make him any worse…

    August 24, 2010 @ 6:19 pm

  22. Sina

@diva459 I rewatched the ep and I totally agree with you that it was a con, Burns and Cal played it very well, and I also agree that Gillian needed to be taken out at that point in order to keep the game running. I still think “Blinded” was a tad bit better though…besides the long-con Cal played there being brill, Jenkins was just awesome! The actor impressed me quite a lot!
