Totally agree that the episode was one of the funniest to date. That having been said, I think this would have made a better two part-er. The last fourth or so of it seemed super rushed. Clara’s friend broke down way too easily, as did Leo. All in all, still very well done though.

Loved it…really good to get some of the science back too. Of course it’s never completely disappeared, but I’ve missed the scientific explanations. As for the story, I thought it was great! Loved the ending and the banter too!

I didn’t like this episode at all. Too few Cal/Gillian moments. I’m pissed off about this.. I’m gonna stop following Lie to me.

@fdgdfgdfg Really sorry to hear you were disappointed in the episode. But, I’d encourage you to reconsider following the show. Keep in mind that the writers can only fit in so much dialog, and so many storylines into one ep. Also, season three holds in store more on the Cal/Gillian front. So, maybe you’ll reconsider? :) I hope so!

Loved this episode. Gotta love Tim Roth’s goofy grin! It was a welcome relief after the over-melodramatic IRA episode of the previous week which I thought was the wrong direction to go and likely to single-handedly tank the series. The Whole Truth was a full of twists and turns from the beginning and it was anti-cliche which was great. It was the most funny Lie To Me episode to date. Also we got conned with the promo the previous week! Nice! Glad they didn’t do another WTF episode like they did with the Vegas one. It was perfect: the right blend of humor, drama and no gratuitous sex since it was there for a purpose; and glad that Locker & what’s her name (? the black chick) weren’t working on a 2nd storyline this time. I prefer when there is only 1 story per episode. It flows much better. Glad they went back to showing celebrities as examples (Paris Hilton LMFAO!!!) Overall this episode gets a 10/10. It’s the right formula.

HATED this episode. Cal acted like buffoon in the courtroom – blech. Is this really how the leading expert in his field would act in a high-profile trial? Embarrassing to watch. And insulting to my intelligence.

Zoe/Cal hopping in the sack – ho hum. SOOOO hackneyed. SOOOO not funny anymore (as if it ever was). Why didn’t the writers let her take the slow boat to Chicago like she was suppose to earlier this season?

The “making out with clara” scene so fanficcy it hurt.

The entire episode had an amateurish “Hey, kids! Let’s put on a show in the barn!” feel to it.

My stock in this show is quickly losing value. I don’t even care about Lightman/Foster anymore.

I watched this with my younger brother, not thinking much of the TV 14 warning. Let’s just say that didn’t go well ;) But I thought the episode was kind of staged. It looked a little corny, I’m extremely sad to say. And, for all the Callian fans out there, it was a bit of a reality check that the only chances they’ll see the spotlight is in the 3rd season, and that’s not even a definite.

Yes, it was funny, but it is far from being one of my favorite episodes. I missed the Callian scenes, although I know we are not supposed to have those all the time. Anyway, there was a cute little moment at the beginning. :)

    Where’s Reynolds, by the way?

I also prefer Locker and Torres not working on a silly second case. It’s better this way. I think it works better: they are more funny and the primary case is more intense (as there is more time to develop it).

One final thought: I can’t wait to see Gillian with someone else.

    June 23, 2010 @ 9:33 am

  16. Casey

Yeah, where is Reynolds?? He’s still in the cast list as far as I know…

The lightness of the episode was welcome…as was the lack of bloody violence. The topic of Mercy Killing is an important issue for today, or any time, really, I appreciated the broaching of that.
I’m still trying to figure out if Cal’s comment that “Gillian is his Leo” was meant to be an affront to Gillian, or that he is grateful to have a Leo in his life….it seemed to be a dissing statement, just to clear the path for future rendevous with the widow lady.
Gillian is too good for Cal…I hope the writers pair her with a really good man who blows Cal away in the integrity dept… Someone who treats her like the lady she is!

The Callian shipper in me is stopping me from liking this episode. It was funny, but I really don’t like Zoe and the blonde chick bc they’re getting in the way! I know it’s petty and kinda dumb, but that’s how I feel :P

It seems that as usual people who dislike the episode do so because of what they want to see happen in a relationship between Cal and Gillian rather than simply enjoying the ups and downs that, lets face it, occur in real life.

Cal was deliberately playing up in the courtroom. We have seen him do this in other episodes as well, so that he can get certain reactions, such as the response to calling the defendant a black widow.

Gillian quite clearly has Cal’s respect and she is aware she does. A dsitance that is what Gillian imposes rather than Cal. He is respecting that. It doesn’t mean he should remain celebate though. Life is for living, after all, and happiness is fleeting.

This was light hearted and fun. I thoroughly enjoyed the slight flirtation between Cal and Ria also. :) A nice change of tempo, good dialogue, interesting episode and some of the science returning. A good break from the tension of the previous two episodes.

@Celtic….very good comment. totally agree with you.

    June 24, 2010 @ 5:57 pm

  21. @Celtic, me agrees with you also. :) i don’t watch this just because of “callian” or science, i watch it because of COMBINATION of all. Not every episode should and will be the way we like it. Doesn’t mean after whatever you considered “bad” episode, you should stop watching.
And yes, Cal is a man. With extra energy. And it’s normal. To those who says it isn’t, apparently, doesn’t know REAL LIFE.
It’s such brilliant show, and comments like “i’m gonna stop watching because one episode” kinda pisses me off.

  22. Casey

Right. I didn’t get on the Cal/Gillian boat until far in the 1st season. I was intrigued by the science. There was nothing else like it on TV. However, these flimsy romances Cal gets himself into annoy me. He and his ex-wife should go their separate ways. Obviously, things didn’t work out the first time; it won’t work the second (or are we on to the 3rd, now?). And this new guest star won’t be around for the whole season. Overall, I’d still watch the show if Cal and Gillian didn’t get together, but these meaningless relationships Cal is involving himself in are turning me off a bit.

    June 25, 2010 @ 9:51 am

  23. Celtic

@Casey – Just because the encounters are casual does not mean they are meaningless. They have worth for what they are. Cal and his ex are not in a relationship, they both use what sparks remain between them and it benefits them both without them being back in a destructive relationship. I think this shows a much more mature attitude than pining away after someone who is not ready for a relationship yet.
