Apparently it’s all fun and games on the set of Lie to Me… well, at least when Tim Roth’s involved. Through a series of recent interviews with MSN, it was revealed that the cast has quite the knack for impersonations.

To start things off, Kelli Williams got the word out that Tim does a good Vicky Pollard (“Little Britain”, BBC) impression. She said: “He’s funny, we laugh all the time – I’d already been a big fan of Little Britain so we do ‘yeah, but no, but yeah’ on set all the time”.

Despite the fact that filming days can get long, she said “it’s been a lot of fun working with Tim.”

Of course, laughing it up with Tim may have been the farthest thing from her mind when she started on the series last year: “I’d been a fan of his work for years so it was kind of funny when I first came on last year to get past the idea that it was this actor who I’d admired for a while… He’s just good old Tim now.”

But Tim isn’t the only one having fun with impersonations. It seems that when he’s not supplying them, he’s the subject of them. At least for co-star Brendan Hines: “Working with Tim is great because it’s given me a chance to really, I don’t know, perfect my Tim Roth impression – there’s a lot of raising his eyebrows like that,” he says with a cockney accent. “I say ‘oi!’ a lot more than I ever did before, even when I’m not around him it’s just like ‘oi!’”

So does Tim know about this? “Oh yeah, he’s seen it. He loves it… errrr, actually I promised him I wasn’t going to do it any more, but I lied!”

Impersonations weren’t the only thing the cast chatted about, however. During their on-set visit, MSN (somehow) got on the topic of plastic surgery with Tim. Tim’s comment? “I’m going to get everything done next week, I don’t care!”

Despite the joking, Tim wound things up with some comments on how this “cruel business” drives some people to get work done: “I think people do what they do to keep working and to stop people from saying nasty things about how old and knackered they’re looking! … It’s easier for men, but it’s tougher on women.”
