Ratings for Monday, 11/16/09

18 November 2009 at 11:32 am

Lie to Me scored a 2.9/7 rating/share, with 7.8 million viewers. Also airing at the 9 o’clock hour were new episodes of Two and a Half Men (CBS, 9:00 – 4.8/12, 14.07 million), The Big Bang Theory (CBS, 9:30 – 5.1/12, 13.49 million), Dancing With the Stars (ABC – 4.1/10, 19.38 million), Trauma (NBC – 1.8/4, 5.16 million), and Gossip Girl (1.2/3, 2.24 million).

According to The Live Feed’s James Hibberd, both House and Lie to Me were down “just slightly” from last week. And, to be clear, this is in the 18-49 rating/share. If you look at total viewers, it was actually up by about a quarter of a million viewers.

Honestly, I won’t let my 13 year old watch Two and a Half Men anymore. Trash that makes fun of women and treats them like things with large frontal areas. It is stupid and demeaning. Big Bang theory has two engaging actors and that is more worrisome. Dancing with the (“D” lister) Stars, a reality show, is ridiculous. Now everyone in the world can see what our fantastic Nielsen families watch in their living rooms at night.

I hope Lie To Me has a big enough share to stay up there. It is on the wrong night with a reality show that is hugely popular and two sit coms that are popular. I think moving it to another night would boost the ratings.

My son and husband watched Two and a Half Men while I watched Lie To Me Monday night and tivoed Two and a Half Men and Big Band Theory for me. When I saw what my son was watching my husband and I discussed it he is no longer watching Two and a Half Men. I am tired of prime time shows showing their version of “hot” women and talk about body parts and how they wished they could have a threesome. I am not saying anything here on this blog that has not been shown on tv during a time when children and teens are watching.

I honestly don’t know what else to say here except that I really hope that Lie To Me is switched to another night.

Bravo, @jefs61 for making a smart TV decision regarding your child. Couldn’t agree with you more. I’ve never watched Two & a Half Men for those very reasons. Always have heard how vulgar it is, and I side with the PTC in trying to encourage advertisers to make a responsible choice and pull their advertising dollars from it. I honestly don’t understand how it gets high ratings.

It was dumb programming on Fox’s part to place Lie to Me in such a competitive time slot, seeing that it’s only in its second season, coming off of a half order first season. Here’s hoping that Fox sees the potential and greatness in the show and gives it a fair shot.
