James Marsters’ Lie to Me Role Unveiled

22 August 2009 at 9:49 am

I read that James Marsters has just been cast in an upcoming episode of the Fox television series Lie To Me, starring Tim Roth. I am so excited about this. I want to see the great actor who played Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer get some good TV roles (or his own show! ). But could you find out more about this for his fans? Thanks, Kate.

Here’s what I found out. James Marsters will appear in the third episode of the season as the Assistant District Attorney who went to law school with Lightman’s ex-wife Zoey (played by Jennifer Beals.) The cases in this episode will be a cult leader accused of tax fraud and a college basketball player accused of statutory rape.

Thanks to @jamie_marsters for the tip via Twitter.

Ok, now i’m depressed – Marc Blucas given what looked to be a nice juicy role over James Marsters?? now where’s the sense in that? Marc is a nice guy but hardly a great actor. i have to hope this Asst DA role James is apparently up for is a lot meatier and bigger than it sounds. Otherwise it is going to be one of those ‘let’s-get-James-Marsters-in-to-bump-up-the-ratings’ roles, yah get what i’m sayin’! And he’s on the screen for a total of 5 minutes. i don’t care that he can make more of 5 minutes than some actors can in a whole 90 minutes – it’s about time James was given something WORTHY of his talents, doncha think??
Were they thinking of making this a regular recurring role perhaps? Or will it be left to the more enlightened ‘Caprica’ to give him something more??
*i’m getting those calluses on my knees here*

@Jill: Well, I have to review the casting call again, but I remember getting the impression that the ADA character would have a lot of screen time. So, that might be promising. :) Plus, I suppose JM could’ve fit as a protege of sorts, but I think having Rader several years younger will work well.

Also, though Caprica probably will take up a good chunk of time, you made a good point about the possibility of his role being recurring.. :)
